Java (not to be confused with JavaScript) is a widely used object-oriented programming language for application software development, that runs on billions of devices including notebook computers, mobile devices, gaming consoles, and more. One major advantage of developing software with Java is its portability i.e. code can be moved from a notebook computer to a mobile device.

Unlike Javascript, which only runs on web browsers while Java can be run anywhere.
Unfortunately, Java is an appealing too for threat actors - they will develop malware in this language because it is harder to analyze.
